I'm considering to launch a game jam on itch.io but would like to know if would be there enough interest or not.
About the jam:
Theme: "To be decided...fee free to comment"
Make your game in GDevelop, any version accepted
A splash screen must be included displaying the game is made with GDevelop
The game must be uploaded to itch.io as an HTML game so people can try in the browser.
You are NOT allowed to use any templates or examples
You are NOT allowed to use a custom build of GDevelop
You are NOT allowed to use any assets coming from publicly shared packs such as Kenney, you must create your own.
You are NOT allowed to use sound effects coming from publicly shared packs such as Kenney, you must create your own.
The Jam will be going for 30 days. In 30 days you are free to submit and update your game as many times as you want so people can follow the progress. When you update you need to do also a dev log on itch.io to see what has changed since the original submission.
After 30 days, the submission will be closed, no new submissions will be accepted and no updates will be allowed.
We allow 5 extra days (somewhere around a weekend included) for people to come , try and rate the games at itch.io.
Currently we are looking for a relatively popular streamer with at least 20-30+ followers who would also try the games just for fun and share a video on YouTube or Twitch preferably few days before we announce the winners. In case you are interested, let me know in this topic or send me a PM. No obligations, only want to know who to contact and remind the Jam is over so you can record as you trying all the games. No special editing required just record and upload to make sure as many people come and try the games as possible before we announce the winners
Announcing the winners:
After 5 days we announce the winners.
The winners will be chosen by taking into account the number of people rated the game divided by the average rating of the game to calculate the overall score.
For example, in case someone got only 1 5 star rating the score will be calculated as 1 / 5 = 0.2 and in case someone got 10 rating and 4 star average rating it will be 10 / 4 = 2.5
The winner of the Jam can choose any title from Steam in value $20 or 1 year GD subscription.
If the winner also share the source of the game under MIT license we offer an extra $10 to spend on Steam so the prize will be any title from Steam in value $30 or $10 and 1 year GD subscription.
Only! among people also share the source of their project under MIT we also going to draw a 2nd and 3rd prize of any title from Steam in value $10.
Please note, there will be a minimum number of submissions in order to do the prizes. If the number of submissions will be under the minimum we may decide not to offer prizes to the participants. The minimum number of submissions has not been decided yet but very likely we will be asking for at least 4 submissions.
If you choose to share the source, assets can be included under a different license but the actual project source must be free to all under MIT but only if you wish to enter the prize draw for $10! It is optional!
In case you are not familiar with the MIT license, here is the description:
In essence, people are free to take and use your project as they see fit, no restrictions....
It would be the plan.
Say +1 if you are interested in participating with the rules described above.
I'll do this Jam only if there is enough people show interest.
DO NOT SUBMIT YOU GAME YET!!!
DO NOT BOOK DAYS OFF FROM WORK AND SCHOOL YET!
I'm going to let everyone know here by the end of this month (December) if we are doing this and when, I'm only checking now how many people would be interested to participate.
